Engineering reference 01
Risk Supervision & Control Systems
A specialised engineering reference illustrating the design of risk supervision interfaces and configurable operational control systems for trading environments.
- Engineering disciplines
- Relevant use cases
- Supervising accounts against configured risk policies
- Giving operators control of a supervision engine
- Configuring rules per group of accounts
The engineering challenge.
A trading operation that applies risk policies has to evaluate them repeatedly — at a set interval or as trading events are reported — across its accounts, against data that comes from the trading platform. The policies differ from one group of accounts to the next, and they change.
The difficulty lies less in any single rule than in the whole: evaluating rules reliably, being able to see whether the supervision itself is running and connected, and letting an operator change the configuration in a controlled way.
The engineering approach.
The work combined several disciplines.
- Rule evaluation
- Risk rules expressed as explicit, configurable parameters per group of accounts, evaluated by a dedicated engine.
- Platform integration
- An integration with MetaTrader 5 on the manager side, with its connection status shown in a persistent indicator.
- State visibility
- Engine status, connection status and last activity visible at a glance, so that a stopped engine is not mistaken for a quiet one.
- Configurable supervision
- Rules and engine parameters edited and saved from the console, per group of accounts.
- Operational control
- Start and stop controls, engine status and last-heartbeat information, so that the engine is operated deliberately.
Interface.
The application’s console: engine control, connection status, active rules and settings.
Screen captures of the desktop application, shown after masking. Configuration values, identifiers and connection details have been masked in the images; field labels and status indicators remain visible. A capture shows what an interface provides; it is not evidence of a particular result.
What this reference is — and is not.
- It illustrates engineering and interface design work carried out by C.G Solutions.
- It is not a product offered for sale, and the system shown is not available for licensing.
- No client is named, and no configuration value, performance figure or outcome is disclosed.
- Supervision here is periodic or event-driven: it reacts once the platform has reported an event. This reference does not describe broker-side blocking of orders before execution; “control” refers to operating the engine — start, stop and configuration.
- MetaTrader 5 is named to identify the platform the integration addressed. C.G Solutions is not affiliated with, endorsed by or a partner of MetaQuotes.
