Engineering reference 04

Daily Reporting and Operational Notifications

An engineering reference in operations automation: an independent service that read trading history from MetaTrader 5 without modifying it, rebuilt how each position was opened, reduced and closed, and turned the day into one consolidated report — stating when the day’s data was incomplete.

All selected work

Engineering disciplines
  • Position lifecycle reconstruction
  • Server-day alignment
  • Volume-limit evaluation
  • Completeness checks
  • Delivery & exception handling
Relevant use cases
  • Replacing scattered events with one daily summary
  • Reviewing closed positions against configured volume limits
  • Knowing whether a day’s report is complete

The engineering challenge.

Trading history arrives as separate events: an opening, a partial reduction, a closing. On their own they say little about a position as a whole, and nothing about how it compares with the volume limits an operation has set.

The difficulty was to turn those events into a coherent daily summary — and to tell a day without exceptions apart from a day whose history is incomplete. A report that looks clean because data is missing is worse than no report, so the state of each run had to stay observable, including after a resumption.

The engineering approach.

The work combined several disciplines.

Read without modification
Trade history read from MetaTrader 5 by an independent service, without writing to the platform.
Lifecycle reconstruction
Openings, reductions and closings assembled into the lifecycle of each position.
Reference day
The reporting day aligned with the trading server’s day, not with a local clock.
Rule evaluation
Each fully closed position evaluated against the volume limits configured for the project.
Completeness check
Incomplete data detected and reported as such: an incomplete day was never presented as a day without exceptions.
Consolidated report
One report per day, carrying its processing state.
Delivery & exceptions
Delivery of the report tracked, state kept between runs, and resumptions and exceptions handled explicitly.

How the report is built.

From trade history to the daily report, in the order the work is done. Only this reference’s own components are shown.

  1. MetaTrader 5

The trading platform, read without modification.

  2. Read-only

    Trade history

Openings, reductions and closings of the server day.

  3. Server day

    Reconstruction & checks

Position lifecycles, configured volume limits and completeness.

  4. Closed positions

    Report

One consolidated report, with its processing state.

What this reference is — and is not.

  • It illustrates operations-automation engineering carried out by C.G Solutions. It is not a product offered for sale.
  • Only positions fully closed within the reporting day fed this report; it did not monitor open positions live.
  • That closing rule belonged to this work: another project would define its own.
  • The notification channel and the schedule are adapted to each project; whether a notification arrives depends on the channel used.
  • No client is named, and no real data, rule value, volume or operating figure is shown.
  • MetaTrader 5 is named to identify the source platform. C.G Solutions is not affiliated with, endorsed by or a partner of MetaQuotes.
